Grindhouse6_largeThe master of the exploitation film and his "From dusk till dawn" buddy are finally releasing their new movie-combo next week: Grindhouse. In the US, it will be released as one movie, Grindhouse; but it is still not clear if the other countries will see it as one movie or as two seperate movies(Grindhouse:Planet Terror and Grindhouse: Death Proof).

A "Grindhouse" was a type of inner city theatre that would play all night marathons of low budget exploitation films in the 60s, 70s and early 80s. A typical US phenomenon. And since non-english speaking countries might not understand the tradition behind a double feature, the underlying concept might be lost. Hence maybe two movies in Europe.

The film(s) come(s) out next week here in the US and I can’t wait to see it (them). Kurt Russell as a crazed scarred outsider with a killer car and Rose McGowan with a machine gun leg… How much cooler can you get! Even the trailers before and in between the two movies are fake and created by the directors. Excited!!!

See the trailer below or you can also make your own trailer on the film’s official site.

If my head wasn’t attached to my body…

I don’t care what anybody says; New Yorkers are now officially the nicest people in the world. And yes, that’s including taxi drivers. Yesterday after the Knicks game, I lost my Blackberry in a taxi. After calling my phone for about 15 times, I just gave up of ever finding it again. And without a receipt from the cab ride, there was no way of ever knowing in what taxi I had left it. So I just went to bed trying to figure out what to say to the IT team here in New York (I have a tendency to lose things and I could already imagine their faces…). Half an hour later (around 11.30pm) I woke up because my US phone was ringing. When I picked up, a total stranger (my savior) said he was in a taxi and had found this Blackberry. Since the last 15 missed calls on it were from this number, he wondered if by any chance it was mine. He would ask the cabdriver to drop it back off on my street. I went downstairs and not even 10 minutes later the cabbie drove up with my Blackberry. When I wanted to give him 30 dollars for the extra ride and the trouble, all he said was: "That’s way too much money, lady. I only did what you would have done". So thank you Mr cabdriver and thank you Mr anonimous. You saved my ass big time from being kicked by the IT guys!

M. took me to a New York Knicks game yesterday! They played against Orlando Magic and lost (of course…). But what an excellent time! Free drinks and food in the skybox seats, weird competitions during half time and time-outs, Spike Lee arguing with the refs (red cap in below picture), gorgious cheerleaders, …
